Isernia (ZIP code 86170) is the Chief Town of the homonymous province.

Population: The municipality of Isernia had a popolation of 20.933 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 21.152 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 - 2001 a percentual variation of 1,05% inhabitants.
The inhabitants are distributed in 7.191 families with an average of 2,94 people per family.
The place: The territory of the municipality lies between 285 and 905 metres above sea level.
The altimetric spawn is thus of 620 metres.

There are 619 service firms employing 1.415 people that are the 15,48% of the total of the workers. There are also 726 firms employing 2.881 people that are the 31,53% of the total of the workers. There are also 149 administrative offices emplying 3.364 workers that are the 36,81% of the total of the workers.
There is a total of 9.138 workers, that are the 43,20% of the inhabitants of the municipality.
